Taiwanese hardware maker Gigabyte has supposedly dead prey to yet another ransomware snipe.

If true, IT would be the second meter the companye has been targeted by a ransomware operator in 2021 following an earlier attack in Revered.

Spell Gigabyte hasn't yet commented on the incident, according to dark web criminal intelligence platform DarkTracer, the company's name has appeared in the list of victims of the comparatively bran-new ransomware operative AvosLocker.

According to SiliconANGLE, AvosLocker was first seen towards the end of June equally it was observed trawling the underground forums look for affiliates to Doctor of Osteopathy its dirty work away disseminative its malware.

Sensitive data

Every bit is commonly the case, the AvosLocker gang has reportedly published about of the stolen data as proof of their fire connected G.

Privacy Sharks claims to make seen the data sample distribution, and says that it contains lots of sensitive information including passwords and usernames, employee payroll details, hominal resources documents, and mention card details.

Furthermore, the common 14.9 MB sample also contains documents of Gigabytes dealings with other reputable firms so much American Samoa Barracuda Networks, Rash, Black Illusion, Intel, Kingston, Amazon, and BestBuy.

If the contents in the sample are indeed trusty it could cause sleepless nights at Gigabyte HQ, especially since a report earlier this month suggested that AvosLocker plans to pioneer a twist to the classic double-extortion methodology to punish non-paying victims by auctioning their data rather than notice it free of charge.

Industry experts conceive that given the nature of the exfiltrated data, Gigabyte would make up left with little option only to pony up since information technology wouldn't want these sensitive inside information to end up with combined of its competitors.
